Eco-friendly nano- and microtechnology
Large-scale commercial application of nanofabrication methods enables unprecedented advances of the information technology industry and the creation of complex micro- and nanoelectronic, nanophotonic and plasmonic devices for various purposes.
Our research group specializes in producing nanoparticles on thin metal, dielectric, and hybrid films. Gold and silver nanoparticles are used as resonant structures in diagnostic applications, such as surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and surface-enhanced fluorescence (SEF) for ultrasensitive detection of biomolecules. In our research, we explore the enhancement of quantum yield using plasmonic nanostructures.
Along with nanoparticles, we also have experience in the fabrication of nanostructures with more complex geometries, including nanoneedles and nanobumps. These structures are also promising for creating light-sensitive sensors for biomedical applications. For example, we have made hybrid nanostructures from thin silicon-gold films, exhibiting bright white photoluminescence.
In addition, we create surface microstructuring of materials such as titanium, copper, gold, silver, erbium, silicon, and others. Using optical lithography (or even without lithography), we modify surfaces and create microfluidic chips.
