The Department of Physics and Engineering at ITMO University, together with the Laboratory of Acoustics, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position (with potential prolongation) in experimental acoustics. This position is part of a prestigious MegaGrant project (Russian Science Foundation) and offers the chance to work at the forefront of acoustic metamaterials research in close collaboration with Tongji University (Shanghai, China), under the supervision of Prof. Yong Li.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel resonant acoustic systems and devices based on acoustic metamaterials and metasurfaces. Possible research directions include:

Sound absorption and noise suppression with metamaterials

Sound routing with reconfigurable metasurfaces

Acoustic sensors

Acoustic energy harvesting

Acoustic tweezers and acoustomechanics
This position will allow you to be at the forefront of the research in the field of modern acoustics and metamaterial physics pushing the limits of the current state-of-the art in the field. International cooperationvia scientific visits to Tongji University and other labs, participation in topical conferences and meetings are planned.

Requirements
We are seeking candidates who:

Hold a PhD (or are close to completion) in experimental acoustics or related fields

Have expertise in experimental air/fluid/elastic acoustics (e.g., acoustic and ultrasonic resonance spectroscopy, ultrasonic flaw detection, seismology) or similar areas

Possess an excellent publication record demonstrating independent research ability

Are ready to lead their own projects while maintaining open communication and collaboration within the team

Are fluent in written and spoken English

Salary depends on the qualification of the candidate and starts from 2000 euros. It is at least 2 times higher than the average level for Saint Petersburg, where living expenses are 2-3 times lower as compared to Western Europe and the US.
