Recent Search Results for Cold Dark Matter Axions at CAPP
Abstract

The axion is a hypothetical pseudoscalar boson that could address both the strong CP problem and the dark matter mystery. The Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research (CAPP) has been conducting cavity haloscope experiments utilizing a variety of magnet systems to explore multiple frequency ranges simultaneously. Among those, CAPP-12TB is currently engaged in an active search for cold dark matter axions in the frequency range above 1 GHz. Boasting a magnetic field strength of 12 Tesla and a bore diameter of 320 mm, the CAPP12TB magnet is one of the most prominent systems involved in the center's research efforts. To achieve noise temperatures near the standard quantum limit, CAPP relies on a series of Josephson parametric amplifiers installed in a various dilution refrigerators. In order to facilitate high-frequency searches, CAPP has also developed novel resonator designs, including pizza cavities and tunable photonic crystal cavities. In this presentation, I will summarize the recent research findings of CAPP, and discuss the future plans.
