Large Area Organic Photodetectors for Imaging Applications

Photodetectors are the cornerstone of imaging technologies in fields like surveillance, sensing, biomedical, and biometrics. In this sense, organic photodetectors (OPDs) have attracted much attention in recent years, due to their promise in large-area light sensing applications.
In this talk we will revise the concept of OPDs and the characterization of their key figures of merit. We will look into the optimization of these figures of merit via device stack engineering and a careful selection of the active materials and transport layers. We will then see how to incorporate these OPDs into imager arrays and how to use them for fingerprint sensing, vein detection and biomedical applications, amongst others.
