Metasurface Reconfiguration Using Plasma Discharges
Abstract

Agile metasurfaces offer new possibilities for integrating communication, remote sensing, and radar technologies. For reconfigurable antennas and microwave devices, incorporating active elements into state-of-the-art metasurfaces addresses the limitations of static systems. We want to explore the potential of integrating active materials, such as cold plasma discharges, into classic metasurfaces like holey, bed of nails, and mushroom-type structures. This integration aims to render these metasurfaces agile in frequency, enabling tuning in power densities beyond the capabilities of traditional electronic components.
