Abstract

Studying Förster Resonant Energy Transfer (FRET) in a complex environment and its relationship with local density of states (LDOS) can be challenging in the optical range due to the weak signals, low spatial resolution, and highly specialized equipment. Here we consider the classical analog of FRET and perform a numerical and experimental analysis of energy transfer between two dipoles near the conducting plane and a metasurface, which supports plasmon-like surface waves in the microwave range. The effect of the conducting plane on FRET and LDOS in a wide range of distances and the effect of plasmon-like surface waves are shown.
