Researchers of the laboratory "Metamaterials" P.A. Belov, A.A. Orlov and S.U. Kosulnikov have published the book "Subwavelength imaging. Overcoming the Diffraction Limit".\ The book is devoted to a new branch of physics related to the development and applications of metamaterials - artificial materials with electromagnetic properties which are not observed in the materials available in nature. The concept of metamaterials is a fundamentally new approach that allows you to design materials based on the properties are required. Using these artificial media with exotic electromagnetic properties it's possible to create the imaging device with subwavelength resolution not limited by the diffraction limit of the lens to allow the transmission and processing of images, which for a long time seemed insurmountable even theoretically.
