October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That is why we devoted the entire last month to preparing material about the unique breast cancer diagnostic technology created by our scientists.

Breast cancer is one of the most widespread oncological diseases and one of the most dangerous for women overall: 685,000 died of it last year alone. It is really important to detect the tumor and treat it as early as possible. In this case, there is a good chance of complete recovery. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an efficient non-invasive method for early diagnostics. However, this procedure is quite expensive and requires special equipment, which makes it hardly accessible to the public.

Our scientists have been working on improving the effectiveness of MRI breast screening for 8 years. This project began as fundamental research without any applied functions and eventually grew into MetaCoil - a wireless, ergonomic, compact device for breast screening
