"Optical forces, light scattering and fluorescence in resonant dielectric structures”
Abstract:
The talk is devoted to three directions of my PhD research at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. First, optical forces generated by Bloch surface waves in a dielectric multilayer are studied. Using optical tweezers and photonic force microscopy, we measure the forces acting on a 1-um dielectric sphere in the surface wave evanescent field. We also observe nonlinear self-action of the surface waves at the interface with a water suspension of nanoparticles. Second, optical forces acting on Mie-resonant silicon particles in a plane-wave radiation are calculated and a number of schemes for separating these particles by size is considered. Third, Mie resonances of submicron diamond particles are revealed using single-particle scattering spectroscopy. The effects of these resonances on fluorescence of individual particles is discussed.
