PhD student (junior researcher) position in the area of organic and perovskite thin-film optoelectronics

The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University invites a PhD student to join the team and work in the area of organic and perovskite thin-film optoelectronics.

You will explore the application of new composite phosphors (metal-organics, metal-organic frameworks, perovskites) for light-emitting devices, measure current-voltage characteristics, photoluminescence, absorption, and electroluminescence spectra, explore the use of nanophotonic structures to improve LED/OLED devices, and calculate models in CST and Comsol Multiphysics. 

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • work on current research projects and publish scientific papers;
  • participate in educational activities, i.e. teach laboratory classes;
  • submit applications for grants, scholarships, awards;
  • supervise students;
  • represent the Faculty and share the results of their work at conferences and meetings.

Requirements

  • basic physics/chemistry/electrical engineering education or optics;
  • good grades in major subjects;
  • experience of work in a research group or research work in a similar area;
  • knowledge of English: B2 (Upper-Intermediate);
  • well-developed information analysis skills and decision-making skills;
  • proactivity, result orientation;
  • sharing our values and principles.

This would be an advantage:

  • software skills: MATLAB, Comsol, CST; Python programming skills;
  • experience with equipment/participation in experiments;
  • publications in scientific journals, including those with first authorship;
  • conference presentation experience;
  • internship experience.
