In the third issue of the planned research stories, I will address the early history history and fundamental basics of nonlinear and tunable metamaterials (based on artificial magnetics). This includes a range of approaches to introduce nonlinearity, and novel nonlinear effects.
Specifically, I will address the following topics:
1. Nonlinearity and tunability introduced at the level of individual elements
2. Nonlinearity and tunability arising due to mutual interaction (collective response)
3. Fancy nonlinear effects
As usual, there is a range of possibilities for future projects, which we will discuss.
