Theoretical seminar | 02 December 2021
This talk presents two mechanical meta-materials which unique properties are enacted by specifically designed microstructures. I) Blast-wave mitigation meta-concrete with embedded inclusions consisting of a heavy core coated in a compliant layer. It exhibits wave energy trapping and mortar stress reduction when subjected to dynamic loading. II) Auxetic periodic structures with modified geometry and embedded resonators. Such modifications yield improvements in energy absorption capacity and in low-frequency vibration mitigation.
