Wakefield acceleration. Basic concepts and perspectives.
Abstract

In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to the concept of the wakefield accelerator and discuss the advantages of the wakefield acceleration over the conventional radiofrequency acceleration technique. I will introduce important metrics of the wakefield accelerator and talk about several fundamental theorems that define performance limits. In conclusion, I will outline challenges, recent progress in the field and talk about future perspectives.
