Self-aligning Roly-Poly RFID Tag
Abstract

Radiofrequency identification (RFID) allows performing wireless communication with special tags, attached to the objects. While numerous passive RFID tags designs have been explored, those realizations are still suffering from polarization mismatch issues. We propose a new concept of miniature high-permittivity ceramic tags, immune to rotations in space. Our design is based on a high permittivity ceramic resonator placed in the plastic holder. The proposed architecture has 55 mm diameter size and allows interrogating distance up to 15 m distance, regardless of the tag’s orientation in space. Miniature RFID tags with stable reading can find use in many various applications.
