Acoustic bound state in the continuum in labyrinthine meta-atom
Abstract

This seminar presents a theoretical and experimental study of acoustic bound states in the continuum (BICs) realized using a labyrinthine meta-atom embedded in an acoustic waveguide. When the meta-atom is positioned on the waveguide axis, the system supports a symmetry-protected BIC, while shifting it away from the axis breaks the symmetry and transforms the state into a radiative quasi-BIC, observed as a narrow resonance in the transmittance spectrum. The proposed platform offers control over radiative and absorptive decay channels and may be useful for tunable acoustic absorbers, sensors, and modulators.
