Chiral metal halides are an emerging class of solution-processable materials for nonlinear and chiral photonics. Their noncentrosymmetric crystal structures, induced by chiral organic cations, enable second-order nonlinear optical processes such as second-harmonic generation, while their strong light–matter interaction makes them attractive for compact photonic devices. In this work, we investigate chiral bismuth halides as lead-free nonlinear optical materials, focusing on their structural, linear, and nonlinear optical properties. We also explore the fabrication of resonant nanostructures and metasurfaces to enhance nonlinear light–matter interactions. These results highlight the potential of chiral metal halides for integrated nonlinear photonics, frequency conversion, and polarization-sensitive optical devices.
