DIY MRI: How to build your own MRI scanner
Abstract

Low field MRI has gained renewed interest in recent years as a means of expanding the role of MR in the healthcare system. While the image quality that can be attained with Low field MRI systems (<0.1 Tesla) is significantly lower than their high field counterparts they are much smaller, more light weight and cheaper than their high field counter parts and due to not needing extensive cooling systems they are much simpler to construct yourself. In this presentation I'll talk about the design and construction of a 50 milliTesla head only system and highlight some of the challenges that we faced during the process and hopefully by the end you will be able to build your own!
