Postdoc in nanopharmacology

The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University invites a postdoc to join the team and work in the area of nanopharmacology. The employee's tasks will will include work with cell cultures and laboratory animals. A successful candidate should have an excellent knowledge of the basics of molecular biology and oncology, have experience in therapy and work with laboratory animals, possess basic laboratory skills, and be able to plan and implement research independently. The specific areas of work will be discussed individually at the job interview.

Responsibilities

  • Attracting financing, both individually and together with colleagues (applying for grants, search for commercial partners);
  • Biological research in vitro and in vivo;
  • Work in a chemical laboratory in the area of nano- and micromaterials synthesis (optional);
  • Planning experiments independently;
  • Analysis and theoretical generalization of scientific data obtained during research;
  • Supervising students and PhD students;
  • Planning and organizing works on projects;
  • Talks at conferences and seminars;
  • Active participation in the events and life of the Faculty, organizing summer schools and events for students and PhD students;
  • Willingness to lead a grant team would be an advantage.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree (or a Russian Candidate of Sciences degree) in Physics and Mathematics/ Chemistry/Biology/Engineering;
  • Working experience in laboratories, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, research institutes is desirable;
  • Experience with cell cultures: separation, cultivation;
  • Experience with laboratory animals;
  • Experience in tumor induction;
  • Experience in presenting at conferences;
  • Recommendations from the research group leader (where the PhD defense took place, or from the previous place of work);
  • Knowledge of English: B2 (Upper-Intermediate) or a higher level; 
  • At least two papers published in high-rated journals (IF > 3) including as a first author (1-2 papers per year) or as a corresponding author;
  • Information analysis skills and decision-making skills; 
  • Being proactive and result-oriented;
  • Well-developed communication skills, non-confrontational approach and ability to reach a compromise;
  • Ability to independently plan your own development, ask for feedback and improve your results based on it;
  • Ability to work hard and intensively in the situation when the plans are quickly changing, stress resistance;
  • Experience in the area of nano- and micromaterials synthesis would be an advantage;
  • Experience in submitting grant applications and leading grants would be an advantage;
  • Working experience abroad would be an advantage.
