PostDoc position in Computational Many-body Physics

PostDoc position is available in the School of Physics and Engineering at the ITMO University in St Petersburg, Russia.

Responsibilities

The project is devoted to development of a novel ab initio programming code for theoretical and numerical investigation of ultrafast nonlinear phenomena in many-electron systems (quantum materials, atomic clusters and molecules) from the first principles. The project will involve development of the theoretical methodology for description of dynamical exchange-correlations and dissipative effects in many-electron systems coupled to electromagnetic cavities, solving the coherent optimal control problems for many-electron systems under the influence of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses, implementation of the theoretical methodologies in the programming code in Python and carrying out first-principle calculations on supercomputing clusters. The candidate for PostDoc position should have PhD degree in Physics related area, experience of working with DFT packages and numerical calculations is highly desirable.

The project is supervised by Dr. Dmitry R. Gulevich and co-supervised by external collaborators Vasili Perebeinos (University of Buffalo, USA) and Ilya Tokatly (University of Basque Country, Spain).

Requirements

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized PhD degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future), preferably in Theoretical Physics, Computational Physics or Mathematics. The candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in research and experience in programming.
