"Magnon-phonon twist in a ferromagnetic nanograting"
Abstract:
The talk gives an overview of magneto-optical experiments with metallic ferromagnetic nanogratings. We investigate how the interaction between localized phonons (quanta of lattice vibrations) and magnons (quanta of spin waves) governs the coherent response of a nanograting on the femtosecond optical excitation. I will demonstrate the experimental manifestations of weak and strong coupling between the localized phonon and magnon modes and present a simple model, which perfectly describes the experimental observations. The application potential of concepts based on the magnon-phonon interaction at the nanoscale will be also addressed through the talk.
