Computer science and programming Lecturer

The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University is a creative synergy of professors, young ambitious researchers and students. Our team began as a small laboratory and has grown into a large scientific and educational center in 10 years of collaborative work. Today, we work in advanced research areas and implement relevant educational programs.

The Faculty of Physics invites a computer science and programming lecturer to join our young and rapidly developing team of like-minded employees. The course starts in the spring semester of 2024.

Responsibilities

  • development, teaching, and organization of computer science and programming courses for first-year Bachelor’s students at the Faculty of Physics;
  • preparation of educational materials;
  • coordinating content of lectures and practical classes;
  • control over the educational process and student attestation;
  • the development of a detailed course program is carried out in coordination with the manager of the educational program and specialized teachers, based on the content of standard advanced courses;
  • students: first-year Bachelor’s students (first and second semester);
  • type of classes: lectures (one class per week) and practical classes (computer class, one class per week), 16 academic weeks.

Requirements

  • a degree in computer, natural, or mathematical sciences;
  • Python programming experience;
  • teaching experience in “Programming” and/or “Computer science” is required, at least 3 years in higher education institutions;
  • well-developed communication skills;
  • sharing our values and principles;
  • a PhD degree is desirable;
  • active research work is encouraged (papers published in well-ranked indexed journals);
  • knowledge of English would be an advantage.
