The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University is a creative synergy of professors, young ambitious researchers and students. Our team began as a small laboratory and has grown into a large scientific and educational center in 10 years of collaborative work. Today, we work in advanced research areas and implement relevant educational programs.
The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University invites a postdoc to join the team and work on the project “Perovskite scintillator for X-ray imaging”.
The project aims to create prototypes of X-ray scintillator devices using perovskite quantum dots in a polymer matrix. Within the framework of the project, we actively collaborate with industrial partners, and the obtained samples are tested at their facilities. The work takes place at the interdisciplinary laboratory PeroLab of ITMO University. In the laboratory, synthesis methods for quantum dots of various compositions have been developed, and the first successful experiments on the creation of devices based on them have been carried out; the further work plan is to optimize functional layers and create prototypes using the capabilities of the laboratory and partners. The project is supported by the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) within the TechnoStart program.
Responsibilities
- development of perovskite-based scintillators for X-ray imaging;
- creation of deposition techniques for all the functional layers;
- maintaining report documentation;
- applying for grants and competitions to attract funding;
- leading a small team of engineers for work on the project;
- planning experiments and their control;
- writing patents and scientific articles.
Requirements
- a PhD degree in engineering or in physics and mathematics (or a Russian degree: Candidate of Sciences);
- experience in creating devices and their characterization;
- basic knowledge of fabrication methods for thin-film structures;
- experience in equipment development;
- knowledge of the operation principles of X-ray equipment (ideally, of scintillation materials);
- knowledge of English: Intermediate or a higher level;
- experience in preparing work results in report form (including according to GOST) and presentations;
- experience in work on projects;
- planning and organization skills;
- proactivity;
- systemic thinking skills;
- sharing our principles and values;
- published scientific papers would be an advantage;
- skills of work with the results of IR, XRD, SEM, ICPE, Raman analyses would be an advantage.
